Kickstarter #14: Roller Pro By Peak Design
Quantities are limited, so back now: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/peak-design/roller-pro-carry-on-luggage-by-peak-design?ref=88bir8
Peak Design launched our first bag in 2015 and we’ve launched dozens more since. With every new bag launch, an all-too-familiar sentiment resurfaces from our customers, dealers, media, family, and friends: Great. But when are you going to make a roller?
We get it. The roller (aka spinner, case, or 'rollaboard' to the purists out there) is the undisputed hero bag of modern travel, and for years it has been a conspicuous gap in Peak Design’s lineup. It’s also a category flooded with status-quo products from tired legacy brands and not-so-disruptive-anymore D2C brands alike. It's no wonder our customers are literally begging for the next leap of innovation.
Well, we heard you (loud and clear, many times over, it was a pretty hard signal to miss). Peak Design’s roller bag is here, and we have a hunch that it will set a number of industry standards for years to come.
Visit our Kickstarter page to learn more, ask questions, and join the community of folks helping bring this bag to life. Initial production quantities are limited—don't miss your chance to get Roller Pro for an exclusive discount.

your bag( 7 )
- ・I'm so excited about this! Can super eager customers like me get one by late April? I'm totally willing to pay extra for a pre-production version. I've got an extended overseas trip that kicks off in mid-May, and having this bag for that trip would mean everything. Regardless, thanks for all the fantastic products you all produce!
- ・We now need a Peak Design Diaper Bag. One bag, baby gear + camera - please! :D
- ・damn the bag itself is almost 4kg? brillant design but for a carry on too heavy unfortunately
- ・as always incredible product, but the weight is ridiculous. 4kg just a bag itself. add 2kg laptop (with charger) and you are basically done with carry on weight limits. 1 kilo can be added by few packing cubes 😅
- ・It’s like you’re paying for the space of your bag rather than its contents. It exceeds more than half of the standard 7kg limit. Well, if you’re planning to buy such an expensive bag, you’ll probably always have the money for the additional luggage weight option.
- ・Tried the bag in person at PD’s Venice, CA location. My thoughts: Exterior fabric seems durable. Rubbed my fingernail, keys, corner of the table, and couldn’t get it to mark. Zippers are nice. Front pocket design is good. Wheels are great! Handle seems sturdy. However, I’m not sold on the single flap opening design. There’s a reason just about every manufacturer went to a clamshell design. The interior storage lid is pointless. I pack that gear in cubes/bags. Yes, you can fold it away but that just takes up size/weight. Wish you could remove it entirely. The bungee system doesn’t really do anything. No where near as useful as a compression system. The handle adjustment feature is borderline terrible. To set it to the lower height you have to mess with it a bunch. It’s a prototype so I’ll give it a pass but hopefully that’s fixed on the final version. I’ll likely go back with my standard carry-on packed and pack the PD bag to see how everything fits. Either way, not sold given the price and weight
- ・Too tall, too heavy. 4 kilos for just the bag, and 22 inches? That leaves 3 kilos of contents on the 7-kilo flights, and 22 inches is like 2 inches too much for carry-on.

- ・Yea, double checked the carry on luggage from Air Canada. It’s also 21.5 inch only. Can you guys include in the Q&A if the wheel is easily removable and if removed, will it fit with in the 21.5 inch guideline? Thanks
- ・This is exactly how I wanted for my luggage carrier. Really like the design but… when I saw the price, Nah…
- ・It’s like you’re paying for the space of your bag rather than its contents. It exceeds more than half of the standard 7kg limit. Well, if you’re planning to buy such an expensive bag, you’ll probably always have the money for the additional luggage weight option.
- ・Yes I too need a checked in luggage bag from Pd
- ・Please “checked luggage” version of this. I just broke mine yesterday. I have 45 L PD travel backpack, tech pouch, camera cube, mini tripod, phone case etc. I don’t want to buy other brand bag 😂 love you guys! Great bag.
- ・Love the features but the weight is a deal breaker for carry-on use. I'd be excited if you made a larger version for use as checked luggage where the weight is less of a concern.

- ・Ahh, this is really nice, and I would buy it, but most international flights (non-North American carriers) only allow a 7KG carry-on. This is already 3.9KG. Also, the maximum carry-on height for most carriers is only 21.5". If the airline staff decides to measure, you'll have to check it in since this is 22" in height.

Make the products on your own dime, then sell them when they are ready. Especially with everything going on right now there is too much uncertainty for people to be putting of their money for you to profit. Be a real company.. The the risk on your own. Don't make the customers take the risk. That Is unless you plan to share the reward with them for financing your product!!!!!

- ・I love your gear, guys, but at $425 price point you'll have a hard time competing with something like monos. It might end up taking some enthusiast niche like your tripod. Anyway, the innovation must go on and I'm glad you do it.

Venice, CA location( 1 )

1 kilo( 1 )
- ・as always incredible product, but the weight is ridiculous. 4kg just a bag itself. add 2kg laptop (with charger) and you are basically done with carry on weight limits. 1 kilo can be added by few packing cubes 😅
-
brillant design( 1 )
- ・damn the bag itself is almost 4kg? brillant design but for a carry on too heavy unfortunately

the space( 1 )
- ・It’s like you’re paying for the space of your bag rather than its contents. It exceeds more than half of the standard 7kg limit. Well, if you’re planning to buy such an expensive bag, you’ll probably always have the money for the additional luggage weight option.

most international flights( 1 )
- ・Ahh, this is really nice, and I would buy it, but most international flights (non-North American carriers) only allow a 7KG carry-on. This is already 3.9KG. Also, the maximum carry-on height for most carriers is only 21.5". If the airline staff decides to measure, you'll have to check it in since this is 22" in height.

all the fantastic products( 1 )
- ・I'm so excited about this! Can super eager customers like me get one by late April? I'm totally willing to pay extra for a pre-production version. I've got an extended overseas trip that kicks off in mid-May, and having this bag for that trip would mean everything. Regardless, thanks for all the fantastic products you all produce!
